Make It Right by Megan Erickson

Add to Goodreads
Title: Make It Right
Author: Megan Erickson
Series: Bowler University (Book #2)
Genre: New Adult, Romance
Length: 384 pages
Published: September 9th 2014
Publisher: William Morrow Impulse
Brief Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads) Max Payton lives by two rules:Size and strength win any fight, and never show weakness.

When a rash of assaults sends Bowler University for a tail spin, Max volunteers to help teach a self-defense class. One of the other instructors is the beautiful pixie-faced girl he keeps butting heads with…and who challenges everything he thought he knew.

Lea Travers avoids guys like Max - cocky jocks who assume she's fragile because of a disability caused by a childhood accident. She likes to be in control, and something about being with Max makes her feel anything but. But during the moments he lets his guard down, Lea sees a soul as broken inside as she is outside. Trusting him is a whole other problem...

When the assaults ramp up and hit close to home, Lea and Max must learn, before it’s too late, that true strength can come from vulnerability…and giving in to trust is sometimes the only way to make things right.

My Review:
I give this book a 5 out of 5.

Max Payton was the "villain" in the first book of this trilogy, Make It Count. So getting to see things from his point of view and learning about why he was such a jerk to Kat and Alec. I loved that the majority of the book was through his eyes, though I did enjoy reading through Lea's eyes. The book itself was light in tone, but the romance was great and the sexual tension was heavy early on. Probably the only negative thing that I could say about it was that as soon as the author introduced the attacks on campus, I knew that either Lea or Max was going to get attacked. But the fact that you couldn't tell until right before it happened WHO was going to get attacked made up for it. Definitely a great book for fans of the emerging New Adult genre.

You can purchase Make It Right through Amazon in Kindle format. The hard copy version releases in October 2014.

Title: Make It Count
Author: Megan Erickson
Series: Bowler University (Book #1)
Genre: New Adult, Romance
Length: 384 pages
Published: June 3rd 2014
Publisher: William Morrow Impulse
Brief Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads) Kat Caruso wishes her brain had a return policy, or at least a complaint hot-line. The defective organ is constantly distracted, terrible at statistics, and absolutely flooded with inappropriate thoughts about her boyfriend’s gorgeous best friend, Alec…who just so happens to be her brand new math tutor. Who knew nerd was so hot?

Kat usually goes through tutors like she does boyfriends—both always seem to bail when they realize how hopeless she is. It’s safer for her heart to keep everyone at arm’s reach. But Alec is always stepping just a little too close.

Alec Stone should not be fantasizing about Kat. She’s adorable, unbelievably witty, and completely off limits. He’d never stab his best friend in the back…

But when secrets are revealed, the lines of loyalty are blurred. To make it count, Alec must learn messy human emotions can’t be solved like a trigonometry function. And Kat has to trust Alec may be the first guy to want her for who she is, and not in spite of it.

My Review:
I give this book a 5 out of 5.

Since Anchor Me, I've been eagerly anticipating Megan Erickson's new book. And she did not disappoint.

The first in a trilogy, Make It Count made me laugh, cry, and even yell out in frustration! The characters are all typical college kids. The type of drama that they deal with (cheating girlfriend, betrayal, etc.) is completely normal for the age group.

Kat's insecurities are well-defined and well-written. You can tell the author did her homework on dyslexia to be able to write Kat's character so vividly. I felt like I was actually inside Kat's head and not just reading about her.

You can tell each character was lovingly crafted to be an important part of the story as a whole. I really enjoyed the witty banter between Kat and Alec - especially some of the more awkward yet funny scenes early on in the story.

At the end there is a sneak peek from book 2 in the trilogy: Make It Right; which stars Max Payton. As the second book is not slated to come out for a few more months, I'm refusing to read the sneak peek because I know it's going to drive me nuts to sit here and wait for several months to find out the whole story.

You can purchase Make It Count through Amazon in Kindle format. The hard copy version releases in July 2014.

Brief Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads) Rome turns out to be anything but a business trip in this final installment of Lisa Sumils' mini-series. What was once an innocent love-affair has turned into a messy and dangerous relationship.

When one party has nothing to lose, she will do everything in her power to take back what was once hers. Sophia is determined to end Melanie King and Warren Brown is, of course, going to do everything to save her.

T.M. Williams' final installment in the popular Melanie King love affair is the climax everyone has been waiting for.

My Review:
I give this book a 5 out of 5.

This is the final chapter in the Melanie King saga. If you remember Part 3 correctly, Melanie was left in the clutches of Sophia, Warren's wife. Part 4 opens with Melanie still in Sophia's clutches. The question lies...will she be able to escape? And, of course, there is still the question of whether she will choose Warren or Zach. What follows is the hardest decision of Melanie's life.

Soon a print edition will be available with all 4 parts of the story combined and bonus chapters. You can read more about it on her website, here.

Brief Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads) Everything has changed. Zach has left Melanie and now she wants him back. She made a desperate plea to her husband and his reaction shocks her.

Melanie is torn between Zach and Warren. Sophia doesn't want to let Warren go and Warren doesn't want to let Melanie go.

My Review:
I give this book a 5 out of 5.

This was simply breathtaking. The dilemma that Melanie was left with becomes more and more difficult for her to deal with. The decision she has to make is the toughest of her life. February 14th cannot come fast enough because Lisa has left us with the cliff hanger of all cliff hangers.

My Review:
I give this book a 5 out of 5.

This was just as hot as Part 1. Perhaps moreso. Zach delivers some shocking news and Melanie runs to Warren for comfort. Then things seem to take a turn for the worse the following day, when she learns...well I'll leave it at that because to say anything else would ruin it.

I am anxiously awaiting Part 3 and can't wait to find out what happens next.

Genre: Erotica / Contemporary Romance

Brief Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads) *ADULT*
When Melanie King and Warren Browns fiery love affair escalates people are bound to get hurt. Just not in the way anyone expected. Their lust becomes an uncontrollable addiction and it becomes increasingly more difficult to hide their relationship, not only from their spouses, but from their high-profile careers.

*** 4 part mini-series in completion will be equal to a full length novel ***

My Review:
I give this book a 5 out of 5.

There's not too much you can say about a 30 page story, so this will be short. I really enjoyed the character interactions, and found that there were a lot of realistic emotions between all the characters. This is erotica, so of course there are some very hot sex scenes: the first one within only a few pages. Relationships are definitely complicated, and that's exactly what Melanie's relationships with her husband and her lover are.

The author is putting this up on Amazon in four parts, each for a super low price. I really did enjoy this and I hope all of you do as well!

Anchor Me by Megan Erickson

Add to Goodreads
Title: Anchor Me
Author: Megan Erickson
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length: 182 pages
Published: January 3, 2013
Publisher: CreateSpace
Brief Synopsis: Both Jillian Banner and Mark Chambers are mourning the loss of Gabe (Jillian's brother and Mark's best friend), as well as their relationship. Gabe has left behind not only his sister and best friend, but a pregnant fiancee and a business that is being investigated by the IRS as well. Jillian and Mark lend their support to Gabe's fiancee, and begin to rekindle their romance. Meanwhile, Jillian takes on the hardest challenge she's ever faced: attempting to sell captive-bred seahorses in her aquatic shop. And when the truths that Mark tried to keep from Jillian come out, she has to learn to be her own anchor in life.

My Review:
I give this book a 5 out of 5.

What I loved best about this book, is that the author portrayed very realistic emotions and reactions from the characters. Each character was well developed and had both good and bad sides to them. No one was perfect, like you see in some novels.

The story of Mark's betrayal of Jillian, causing the end of their relationship, slowly unfolds throughout the novel. The reasons why he did these things, the things that her brother kept from her and the reasons why, and Jillian's realization of how much she has always depended on someone else to take care of her and her desire to change this, show how well the author understands to develop a well-rounded character with flaws. The character growth throughout the story is simply perfect.

It was very easy to love Jillian, Mark, and Gabe. It was also very easy to feel the level of betrayal Jillian felt when she finds out the whole truth.

The author did an incredible job researching seahorses and everything else having to do with an aquatics shop, as this is exactly the type of store Jillian owns. The seahorse theme was a well utilized plot point throughout the whole novel.

There's really nothing I didn't like about Anchor Me
